1. Summary
ShotMind is designed around user-selected screenshots and local-first storage.
- You choose which screenshots or images to import from the Photos picker, Files, Share Sheet, Shortcuts, or Back Tap workflows.
- ShotMind stores originals, thumbnails, analysis metadata, preferences, quota state, and setup state locally on your device.
- When you analyze a screenshot, ShotMind may send an optimized image copy and your selected app language to the ShotMind backend for AI analysis.
- ShotMind requests system permissions only when a related feature needs them or when required by platform policy.
2. Data ShotMind handles
The categories below describe the current ShotMind app behavior.
Screenshots and user content
- Images you choose to import or share with ShotMind.
- Optimized image copies used for backend AI analysis.
- Generated summaries, OCR text, categories, extracted items, and recommended actions.
Local app data
- Screenshot originals, thumbnails, and metadata stored on your device.
- App preferences, language selection, quota state, setup-guide status, widget state, and share/shortcut inbox state.
- Some local data is stored in the ShotMind app group so the main app, Share Extension, Widget, and Shortcuts can work together.
Purchase and entitlement data
- Apple StoreKit purchase status, subscription status, and entitlement information used to unlock premium features.
- Payments are processed by Apple, not directly by ShotMind.
Diagnostics and configuration
- Firebase Remote Config and Firebase Installations may process technical diagnostics or installation-related data for app configuration and reliability.
- Kingfisher may cache images locally to display thumbnails efficiently.
ShotMind does not send your coarse location with screenshot analysis requests in the current build.
3. System permissions
ShotMind uses permission prompts for specific user-facing actions.
Photos and files
- ShotMind uses the system Photos picker for user-selected images.
- The current app flow does not request full Photo Library access.
- Files, Share Sheet, Shortcuts, and Back Tap imports are user-initiated handoffs.
Contacts
- Requested only when you choose to add contact details from an analyzed screenshot.
Calendar
- Used only to create events you choose to save from analyzed screenshots.
Reminders
- Used only to create reminders you choose to add from analyzed screenshots.
Location
- Used to show your position and calculate routes when you open map actions from analyzed screenshots.
- ShotMind uses coarse location accuracy for this feature.
Notifications
- Requested when you enable auto-analyze notifications.
- Notifications are local notifications for successful analysis while the app is backgrounded or inactive.
- ShotMind does not use APNS push notification tokens in the current build.
App Tracking Transparency
- ShotMind may ask before any tracking across other companies' apps and websites for advertising measurement.
- Declining this permission does not limit core ShotMind features.
- The current implementation does not add a tracking SDK or direct IDFA access.
Permissions not requested
- ShotMind does not request Camera, Microphone, Bluetooth, Health, or Local Network permissions in the current build.
4. Backend and AI processing
Screenshot analysis requires backend processing.
- When you request analysis, ShotMind sends an optimized screenshot copy and selected language to the ShotMind backend.
- The backend may optimize the image, process it in memory, and forward the request to an AI provider to produce the analysis result.
- Returned results may include OCR text, summaries, detected categories, extracted items, and recommended actions.
- This policy should be updated before release if backend retention, logging, AI provider settings, or storage behavior changes.
5. How ShotMind uses data
Data is used to provide the app features you request.
- Import, store, display, search, and organize screenshots.
- Analyze screenshots and generate actionable insights.
- Create user-confirmed actions such as contacts, calendar events, reminders, map routes, mail drafts, URLs, and PDFs.
- Manage quotas, purchases, premium entitlements, setup status, widgets, and Shortcuts workflows.
- Improve app reliability, fetch app configuration, debug issues, and prevent abuse.
6. Local storage, retention, and deletion
You can manage local ShotMind storage from the app.
- Imported screenshots and thumbnails remain local unless you delete them, delete all ShotMind local storage, or uninstall the app.
- ShotMind may delete temporary upload copies after successful analysis while keeping the original and thumbnail needed for your library.
- The Storage and Privacy screen can show local storage stats and delete local ShotMind files and metadata.
- Uninstalling the app removes future collection from that device, but it may not remove data already processed by backend or third-party providers.
7. Third-party services
ShotMind relies on platform services and selected providers.
Apple services may process purchase, entitlement, permission, widget, shortcut, and system integration data according to Apple's policies.
Firebase Remote Config and Firebase Installations may process technical diagnostics or installation-related data to provide remote configuration and reliability support.
An AI provider may process optimized screenshots sent through the ShotMind backend for analysis. Provider behavior may vary by backend configuration and must be kept aligned with the release build.
8. Your choices and rights
You control many ShotMind data practices from the app or iOS Settings.
- You can choose which screenshots to import and analyze.
- You can decline optional permissions; some related actions may not work without the matching permission.
- You can disable notifications, location, contacts, reminders, calendar, or tracking permissions in iOS Settings.
- You can delete local ShotMind storage from the app where available.
- You can contact us to ask privacy questions or request help with data deletion.
9. Children, changes, and contact
We may update this policy as ShotMind evolves.
ShotMind is not intended to knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent.
If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and update the effective date above.
